PostHeaderIcon England must believe as there is no room for error in Brazil

As England consider their group opponents at the World Cup finals, a man with vast experience in the competition, says England must believe in themselves or risk an early exit according to veteran coach Bora Milutinovic.

It seems that all 3 games will be like a ‘final’ for England and they cannot afford to start with a loss against Italy as the pressure could reach immense heights in the next game against Uruguay, and with Luis Suarez on song, he could be unplayable on the day. And after taking on Italy and then Uruguay, England conclude Group D with a game against Costa Rica in Belo Horizonte on June 24.

Roy Hodgson is a great coach and England have some good players,’’ said Milutinovic, the vastly experienced manager who steered four sides into the knock-out stages of the World Cup (Mexico in 1986, USA in 1994, Nigeria in 1998 as well as Costa Rica).
However, Milutinovic reacted strongly to the prevailing view among English observers that England do not have a chance in Brazil.
“For me the biggest surprise in world football is that a big country, a great football country, like England, can think it doesn’t have a chance,’’ Milutinovic said. “Of course you have a chance. But you need to believe. You need to trust in your character, as players and as a team, your quality. You have players the world knows and when you have good players, anything is possible.’’

As reported by an online sportsbook we believe that ENgland will do well in the world cup for the simple reason that they have always done well in South America.

Roy Hodgson has revealed that England will travel to Manaus a day earlier than normal ahead of their opening World Cup game with Italy in a bid to acclamitize and get used to the conditions that will face them in the rain forest.

England were drawn in Group D and were handed a tie in the Amazon in the north of Brazil for their opening clash, something they had hoped to avoid but will know that they have to cope. They will need to treat the first game as a final, as if England lose, all the pressure will be on them when they will face Uruguay in the next game and nothing less than a win will not see England go through…

As confirmed earlier, the Three Lions’ main training base will be in Rio de Janeiro throughout the tournament, from where they will travel to each of their games the day before, with the exception of the game in Manaus where they will make the trip two days ahead of the clash.

“We know it’s a tough group, as most of the groups are, but we didn’t want to be based up in the north,” Hodgson told the FA’s official website, whilst on a visit to the Teenage Cancer Trust unit at University College in London.

“We’ve already decided that we’ll go with the team [to Manaus] two days before, not the usual one day before.

“But we’ve got one game up there in Manaus, which will be very interesting as it presents very different challenges to the games in Belo Horizonte and Sao Paulo, but we’ll be ready for that.

“Manaus is on the edge of the Amazonian rainforest so it does pose a few more problems.

“But having said that, I can understand the Brazilians wanting to spread the World Cup around all of their major cities and Manaus is a major city in Brazil.

“As far as tourists are concerned, after Rio it might be one of the places everyone wants to go.

“So we should be thankful that we’re going to have a chance to see another iconic Brazilian city and get to know it for a few days and hope that the preparation we do in terms of acclimatisation will stand us in good stead for a game against out European counterparts.”

Hodgson revealed he will be travelling to the Amazon early next year with Team England managing director Adrian Bevington on a fact-finding mission, whilst they will also be in Miami, where their pre-World Cup base will be situated.

“I shall make a visit there before we have the workshop in February,” he continued.

“I’ll go early with Adrian Bevington and we’ll also spend a day or so in Miami to check on our potential camp there before we go to Rio.

“We’ve already decided that we’ll go with the team two days before, not the usual one day before and we hope that acclimatisation and the acclimatisation in Miami before will stand us in good stead.”
