PostHeaderIcon Rooney is on the fitness mend

Wayne Rooney says he is eager to get as many minutes as possible under his belt as he bids to regain full match fitness ahead of England’s crucial World Cup qualifiers next month.

Speaking after online sportsbooks reported England’s narrow win, it was all to apparent that Rooney still has some work to do before he is 100% match fit. With the next qualifiers in the first week of September, Rooney knows that he work is cut out, trying to get a first team place at the expense of some of his formidable United colleagues, and he may run out of time. However not everything is doom and gloom for the golden boy of english football…the Manchester United striker said: “Obviously I’ve had a couple of injuries, but I was happy to get a few minutes today and hopefully I can kick on from there.”

Sidelined at the end of the 2012/13 campaign, Rooney missed the final two games of the domestic season.  He has since suffered a shoulder complaint that aside from a 45-minute appearance in a behind-closed-doors friendly, ruled him out of Manchester United’s entire pre-season schedule and that was the reason for Rooney to have been training with the reserves as a non contact player.

However, the 27-year-old revealed on Wednesday that with the aid of medicine, his shoulder is on the mend and he is fully focused on building his fitness over the coming weeks.

He said: “I had a few painkillers, but obviously it was great for me to get the minutes in and I’m looking forward to getting a few more games.

“You’re always looking forward to having a good pre-season and it’s important that you do that, but unfortunately I got the injury to my hamstring and then to my shoulder – it’s disappointing but I’ll deal with it. I’ve been working hard trying to keep myself fit.

What matters most is that Rooney remains an essential part of the team and without him, Hodgson’s options will be much more punctured. England need Rooney to deliver on the big stage as they approach September which could be a make or break time. Only time will tell…

PostHeaderIcon England beat auld enemies…but there are still big doubts about their participation in Rio

England beat their auld enemies last night after coming back twice. As Walcott said ‘It’s one of the hardest things in football when you have to come back from two goals in an international game’. Well said Theo. England looked very sluggish at the back, and conceded two soft goals which they cannot afford to do when they come up against the likes Poland and Montenegro at Wembley in September.

On the positive side, Jack Wilshere added flair, zest and guile which England were desperate for. Wilshere is unique in that he can skip past players and create space, time and openings for his colleagues. Too often in the past England had static midfielders with no off ball movement. Wilshere belongs to a different breed. He was simply influential yesterday and England’s destiny simply remains whether he is fit or not to play.

As reported by an online sportsbooks information England are favorites to qualify for the World Cup, but as above their participation depends on whether they could sort out the messy back 4 and keep Wilshere fit!

PostHeaderIcon Cristiano shows Mourinho who the Real Ronaldo is

Cristiano celebrated his goal yesterday as if it was a last minute winner against Barcelona. Indeed again, he had done his talking on the pitch. The Portugal star struck twice to ensure Real Madrid secured a famous pre season friendly over Chelsea in the final of the Guiness Cup in Miami.

I like to do my talking on the pitch. What happens off it doesn’t affect me,’ he said.

‘I aim to help Real Madrid to achieve its objectives and what happens away from there does not hurt me.’

Regarding the victory, he said: ‘The team is getting better all the time. It was the most important game of pre-season and it was against a very strong opponent.

‘The team has been very well and the result is fair because we played better.’

Mourinho after the game was also asked who he would like to see win the spanish title next year and his answer was his former club. At least, the last few remaining fans would have enjoyed that!

As reported by an online sportsbook information source Brazil although many argue are the worst team of all time, playing on home soil, they are still considered to be favourites to lift the World Cup and you can have a look at England.

PostHeaderIcon Bad loser Mou, takes on old foe in classic friendly

Make no mistake about it, Mourinho will play his strongest eleven for possibly the whole 90 mins, and judging from his recent press conferences there will be no love lost between his former team. Mou still has fresh memories of how Real Madrid kept him till the last game of the season when the fans and president Florentino Perez had turned against him.

Tonight he will look to put one over his old rivals. Mourinho has accused Real Madrid of not being ‘a football club’, admitting ‘Madrid is not about football’. During his time in Madrid, Mourinho broke all records at Real including scoring 117 goals 2 years ago when they won the league. He would have been a little bit dissapointed as he was competing with one of Barcelona’s greatest team of all time but the supporters are only used to winning and success and Mourinho simply did not deliver enough.

We will wait and witness a classic as these two titans of football will clash tonight.

As reported by an online sportsbook Real Madrid will start the game as slight favourites.

PostHeaderIcon No love lost as Drogba returns to haunt Arsenal…again!

Didier Drogba just cannot get enough…He gas been Arsenal’s tormentor for practically the past decade, time after time destroying the hopes Arsenal have for getting one over Drogba’s team..The 35 year old returned to the Emirates, be it a friendly, where he scored 2 exceptional goals, the first one being a penalty, where he was fouled. The result would not have had any bearing on Arsenal’s season but he had yet delvered another fatal punch to the gut of Wenger’s young side.

Firstly referee Jon Moss awarded a penalty 12 minutes from time for Ignasi’s Miquel slight push on the Ivorian striker, where he duly converted in a cool and relaxed fashion. His second goal reminded everyone in the football world that Drogba at 35 years old is still a World Class striker, as he received a perfect true ball from the impressive Shneijder, where he killed Metresacker with his first touch before planting the ball into the net. It was a goal that showed that he is a class act, even in his winter years as his career is drawing to a close.

The 60,000 fans that ascended in Highbury had all been too familair with what they were witnessing. ‘I celebrate every goal as if it was my first and last goal’ was Drogba’s reaction after the match. Deep down he felt the banter of the crowd where the were jeering him everytime he touched the ball.

PostHeaderIcon Mourinho takes jibe at the ‘Real Ronaldo’

Mourinho has proved to be a controversial character along the pipe during past years and he spiced up the forthcoming friendly between Real Madrid and Chelsea when he took a swipe at his former player and portughese national.

Mourinho added that at the tender age of 30, when he started his work in football as a translator at Barcelona, under Bobby Robson, he had trained ‘the true Ronaldo, not the ‘other one’, referring to his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Some things in life are not worth commenting on and this is one more for obvious reasons,” Ronaldo told a news conference in Los Angeles, where Real are on a pre-season promotional tour where they face Chelsea in the final today.

“I prefer to remember the good things from coaches. I don’t spit on the plate from which I eat and I don’t speak about people who say bad things about me.

“We are going to face Chelsea, not their coach. It is another warm-up game and we hope to win it so we can start La Liga in the best manner possible.”

Real have been invincible in their pre-season games winning all of them comfortably and putting up some impressive displays, which will surely go down well with their fans.
